Connecting Facebook

How to connect your Facebook Page to SoSocial for publishing.

Connect Your Facebook Page

SoSocial publishes to Facebook Pages (not personal profiles). Connecting your Facebook account takes just a few steps, and your credentials are stored securely with AES-256-GCM encryption.

Prerequisites

  • You must be an admin of the Facebook Page you want to manage.
  • The Page must be published (not in draft/unpublished state).

Step-by-Step Connection

  1. Go to Settings from the sidebar.
  2. Under Platform Connections, click Connect next to Facebook.
  3. You’ll be redirected to Facebook’s authorization page.
  4. Log in to Facebook if prompted.
  5. Review and grant the requested permissions. SoSocial needs:
    • pages_manage_posts — to create and publish posts on your Page
    • pages_read_engagement — to read comments, reactions, and engagement data
  6. Click Continue to authorize SoSocial.
  7. After authorization, you’ll be returned to SoSocial.

Selecting Your Page

After completing the OAuth flow, a Page Picker modal appears showing all the Facebook Pages you administer. Select the Page you want SoSocial to publish to and click Confirm.

If you manage multiple Pages, you’ll need to create separate connections for each one. The selected Page’s ID is stored as your platform user ID for that connection.

What SoSocial Stores

SoSocial stores a Page Access Token — not your personal Facebook credentials. This token is encrypted at rest using AES-256-GCM and is only used to publish content and fetch engagement metrics on your behalf.

After Connecting

Once connected, Facebook appears with a green status in your Settings. You can now:

  • Select Facebook as a publishing target on the Compose page
  • Schedule posts to your Facebook Page
  • View Facebook engagement metrics in Analytics

Changing Your Connected Page

To switch to a different Facebook Page, disconnect the current connection and reconnect. During the new OAuth flow, select the different Page from the Page Picker.
