How to connect your TikTok account to SoSocial for video publishing.

Connect Your TikTok Account

SoSocial supports publishing videos directly to TikTok through the TikTok API. The connection uses OAuth 2.0 for secure authorization.

Prerequisites

  • You need an active TikTok account in good standing.
  • Your SoSocial instance must have TikTok API credentials configured (TikTok Client Key and Client Secret). Check with your administrator if the TikTok connection option isn’t visible.

Step-by-Step Connection

  1. Go to Settings from the sidebar.
  2. Under Platform Connections, click Connect next to TikTok.
  3. You’ll be redirected to TikTok’s authorization page.
  4. Log in to your TikTok account if prompted.
  5. Review and accept the permissions SoSocial is requesting:
    • video.upload — to upload videos to your account
    • video.list — to access your video list for analytics
  6. Click Authorize to grant access.
  7. You’ll be redirected back to SoSocial with your account connected.

What You Can Publish

TikTok is a video-first platform. Once connected, you can:

  • Upload videos — Publish video content directly to your TikTok profile
  • Add captions and descriptions that accompany your videos
  • Include hashtags for discoverability

Make sure your video content meets TikTok’s format requirements (vertical video, typically 9:16 aspect ratio) for the best results.

Token Refresh

TikTok connections use refresh tokens that renew automatically. Your connection should remain active without manual intervention. If a token does expire unexpectedly, SoSocial will notify you and you can reconnect with one click.

Troubleshooting

  • Connection option not available: Your SoSocial administrator may need to configure TikTok API credentials.
  • Authorization failed: Ensure you’re logged into the correct TikTok account and that the account is in good standing.
  • Upload errors: Verify your video meets TikTok’s format and size requirements. Videos should be MP4 format with a recommended aspect ratio of 9:16.
  • Permission issues: If publishing fails, try disconnecting and reconnecting to ensure all required scopes are granted.
