Disconnecting a Platform
How to remove a social media connection from SoSocial.
Remove a Platform Connection
If you no longer want SoSocial to manage a particular social account — or if you need to switch to a different account — you can disconnect a platform at any time.
How to Disconnect
- Go to Settings from the sidebar.
- Scroll to the Platform Connections section.
- Find the platform you want to remove.
- Click the Disconnect button next to it.
- Confirm the disconnection when prompted.
What Happens When You Disconnect
When you disconnect a platform:
- The stored access token is permanently deleted from SoSocial. Your credentials are no longer retained.
- The platform is removed from your connection list in Settings.
- It will no longer appear as a target option on the Compose page.
- Any pending scheduled posts for that platform will fail when their scheduled time arrives, since there’s no longer a valid connection to publish through.
What Doesn’t Change
- Published posts are not affected — content that’s already live on the platform stays there. SoSocial doesn’t delete posts from your social accounts.
- Post history and analytics data in SoSocial are preserved. You can still view past performance metrics for posts published through the disconnected account.
- Drafts that targeted the disconnected platform are still saved. You can edit them to target different platforms.
Reconnecting
Changed your mind? You can reconnect the same platform at any time:
- Click Connect next to the platform in Settings.
- Go through the OAuth authorization flow again.
- For Facebook/Instagram, select your Page from the Page Picker.
A fresh access token will be generated and stored securely.
When to Disconnect
Common reasons to disconnect include:
- Switching to a different account on the same platform
- Revoking SoSocial’s access for security reasons
- Removing platforms you no longer actively use
- Troubleshooting connection issues (disconnect and reconnect as a reset)
