Engagement Scoring

Understand how the AI Engagement Score helps you write better-performing content.

Engagement Scoring

SoSocial’s AI Engagement Score gives you a real-time quality signal as you compose your content. Powered by Claude Haiku, it rates your caption from 1 to 10 based on predicted performance.

How It Works

The engagement score appears automatically as you type in the composer. After a brief 1.5-second pause in your typing, the AI evaluates your caption and updates the score. There’s no button to click — it works in the background so you can stay focused on writing.

What the AI Evaluates

The score is based on several content quality factors:

  • Clarity — Is your message easy to understand at a glance?
  • Emotional appeal — Does the caption evoke curiosity, excitement, humor, or urgency?
  • Call to action — Does it tell the reader what to do next?
  • Structure — Is the caption well-organized with a strong opening hook?
  • Relevance — Does it align with your brand and audience interests?

When your Brand Settings are configured, the AI also takes your brand voice, target audience, and content themes into account.

Using the Score Effectively

The engagement score is designed as a creative aid, not a strict pass/fail metric.

  • Compare versions — Write two different openings for the same post and see which one scores higher.
  • Iterate quickly — If your score is low, try rewriting your hook, adding a question, or including a call to action.
  • Spot weak spots — A consistently low score might indicate that the topic needs a different angle or the message isn’t clear enough.

Limitations

Keep in mind that the score is a prediction. Real engagement depends on many factors the AI can’t control: posting time, audience size, platform algorithm changes, and current events. A score of 6 might outperform a 9 on the right day with the right audience.

Use the score as one input among many — alongside your experience, analytics data, and understanding of your audience.
