Drag and Drop Rescheduling
Reschedule posts visually by dragging and dropping them between dates on the calendar.
Drag and Drop Rescheduling
Rearranging your content schedule should feel as natural as moving sticky notes on a board. SoSocial’s drag-and-drop feature lets you reschedule posts visually by simply moving them between dates on the calendar.
How It Works
- Find the post you want to move on the calendar. Posts appear as cards within each day cell.
- Click and hold the post card to pick it up. You’ll see a visual indicator that the card is being dragged.
- Drag the card to the target date you want to move it to.
- Drop it on the new date. SoSocial automatically updates the scheduled time and adjusts the publish queue behind the scenes.
The interaction is smooth and responsive, powered by a professional drag-and-drop library that handles all the tricky details like scroll behavior and drop targeting.
Where It Works
Drag and drop is available in Month and Week views, where you can see multiple days side by side. These views give you the visual context needed to make informed rescheduling decisions.
In Day and List views, you’ll need to use the composer to reschedule since there are no adjacent date targets to drag to.
What Happens When You Drop
When you drop a post on a new date:
- The scheduled date is updated in the database.
- The old queue job is removed and a new one is created for the updated time.
- The change is reflected immediately on the calendar — no page refresh needed.
The time of day is preserved from the original schedule. If you need to change both the date and the time, you can drag to the new date first and then open the post to adjust the time in the composer.
Tips
- Use Month view for moving posts across weeks — you’ll have the widest range of dates visible.
- Use Week view for fine-tuning within a single week — the larger day cells make it easier to see post details.
- Check the Posts page afterward if you want to confirm the new schedule in list form.
