Post Approval Workflow

Submit posts for approval and let reviewers approve, reject, or request changes before publishing.

Post Approval Workflow

When content needs sign-off before it goes live — whether from a manager, client, or brand lead — SoSocial’s approval workflow keeps the process organized and transparent.

How Approval Works

The approval workflow adds a review step between content creation and publishing. Instead of scheduling a post and forgetting about it, you can submit it for approval. The post’s approval status is tracked, giving everyone visibility into where each piece of content stands.

Approval Statuses

Each post can have one of the following approval states:

  • Not submitted — the default state. The post hasn’t been sent for review yet.
  • Pending approval — the post has been submitted and is waiting for a reviewer to act on it.
  • Approved — a reviewer has signed off on the post. It’s cleared for publishing.
  • Rejected — a reviewer has decided the post shouldn’t go out as-is.
  • Changes requested — a reviewer wants modifications before approving.

Submitting for Approval

When your post is ready for review, submit it for approval from the composer or the Posts page. The post’s status updates to “pending approval,” and reviewers can see it’s waiting for their input.

Reviewing Posts

Reviewers can act on posts through shared calendar links that have approval enabled. From the shared calendar view, they can:

  • Approve the post — marking it as ready to publish.
  • Reject the post — indicating it shouldn’t be published.
  • Request changes — flagging specific issues that need to be addressed.

This means reviewers don’t need a SoSocial account to participate in the approval process. They just need the shared link.

After Review

Once a post is approved, it remains in the schedule and publishes at its designated time. If changes are requested or the post is rejected, the content creator can edit the post, make the necessary adjustments, and resubmit it for another round of review.

When to Use Approval Workflows

  • Client management — let clients review and approve content before it represents their brand.
  • Team oversight — managers can review content from team members before it goes public.
  • Brand consistency — ensure all published content meets brand guidelines.
  • Regulated industries — maintain a documented review trail for compliance purposes.
