Editing and Rescheduling Posts

How to edit scheduled posts and reschedule them to new dates and times.

Editing and Rescheduling Posts

Plans change, and your content should be easy to adjust. SoSocial lets you edit and reschedule any pending post directly from the Posts page.

Editing a Scheduled Post

On the Posts page, click any scheduled post card to open it in the composer. The page title changes to “Edit Post”, and you’ll see two action buttons:

  • Update Post — saves your changes (caption, media, platforms) without changing the schedule.
  • Cancel — discards changes and returns you to the Posts page.

You can update the caption, swap out images or videos, add or remove platforms, and adjust any other post details. When you’re done, click Update Post to save.

Rescheduling to a New Time

If you need to change when a post goes out, the schedule button label changes to “Reschedule” when editing a scheduled post. Click it to open the Schedule Modal, pick new dates and times, and confirm.

When you reschedule, SoSocial automatically handles the cleanup:

  1. Old queue jobs are removed — any pending jobs in the publish queue for the previous schedule are deleted.
  2. Old scheduled entries are replaced — the existing pending entries are removed from the database.
  3. New entries are created — fresh scheduled post entries and queue jobs are set up for the new dates and times.

This ensures there are no orphaned jobs that could accidentally publish at the old time.

Editing Drafts

If you’re editing a draft instead of a scheduled post, the page shows “Edit Draft” with a “Save as Draft” button. Drafts aren’t in the publish queue, so there’s no rescheduling involved — just save your changes and schedule when you’re ready.

Tips

  • Edit early. Make changes before the scheduled time to ensure the updated version goes out.
  • Check the Posts page after rescheduling to confirm the new date and time are correct.
  • Use the Calendar for a visual overview of how rescheduling affects your content timeline.
