Recurring Schedules
Set up recurring post schedules to automatically publish content on a repeating basis.
Recurring Schedules
If you have evergreen content or regular series that go out on the same days each week, recurring schedules save you from manually scheduling every single instance. Set it once, and SoSocial takes care of the rest.
Setting Up a Recurring Schedule
In the composer, click Repeat Post to open the recurring schedule options. You’ll be presented with:
-
A date range picker — a dual-month calendar lets you select the start and end dates for the recurring series. For example, you might set a post to repeat from June 1 through August 31.
-
A frequency selector — choose how often the post should repeat:
- Daily — publishes every day within the date range.
- Weekly — publishes once a week on a specific day.
- Custom days — pick exactly which days of the week, such as every Monday and Thursday.
How Posts Are Generated
SoSocial doesn’t create all recurring post instances at once. Instead, it generates scheduled posts up to 7 days ahead at a time. A background job runs every hour to check recurring schedules and create the next batch of upcoming posts.
This approach keeps your posts page manageable and ensures any edits to the original content are reflected in future instances that haven’t been generated yet.
Managing Recurring Schedules
Once created, your recurring schedule appears on the Posts page and Calendar. Each generated instance is an individual scheduled post that you can edit or delete independently without affecting future instances.
To stop a recurring schedule entirely, delete the recurring rule from your schedule settings. Any already-generated posts that are still pending will remain unless you remove them manually.
Tips for Recurring Content
- Pair with templates — create a content template for your recurring format, then attach it to a recurring schedule for a streamlined workflow.
- Review weekly — check your upcoming posts each week to add timely tweaks or personalize instances before they go live.
- Use custom days — custom day selection is perfect for content like “Tip Tuesday” or “Feature Friday” series.
