Google Image Search
Browse images from across the web for visual inspiration and reference.
Google Image Search
In addition to Unsplash, SoSocial provides a Google Image search feature that lets you browse images from across the web. This is useful for finding visual inspiration, researching competitors’ visual styles, or locating specific types of imagery.
How to Use Google Image Search
- Open the Composer or the Research feature.
- In the media section, switch to the Google Images tab.
- Enter a search query to browse images from across the web.
- Browse the results for inspiration or select an image you’d like to use.
Important: Copyright Considerations
Unlike Unsplash, Google Image search results pull from the entire web and may have varying copyright restrictions. Before using any image from Google search in your posts:
- Check the source — Visit the original website to understand the image’s licensing terms.
- Look for Creative Commons licenses — Some images are explicitly marked for reuse.
- Avoid using copyrighted images without permission — This includes stock photography watermarked previews, editorial images, and branded content.
- When in doubt, use Unsplash — If you need a guaranteed royalty-free image, switch to the Unsplash tab for worry-free usage.
Best Uses for Google Image Search
- Visual research — See what types of imagery competitors or industry leaders use in their social content.
- Mood boarding — Gather visual inspiration before creating original graphics in Canva.
- Reference images — Find examples to guide your own photography or design direction.
- Niche topics — When Unsplash doesn’t have images for a very specific subject, Google search can surface more specialized results.
Recommended Workflow
Use Google Image search for research and inspiration, then create original visuals or use Unsplash for the actual images in your published posts. This approach keeps your content both visually compelling and legally safe.
