Creating Campaigns

How to create a Meta advertising campaign with objectives, budgets, and management controls.

Creating Campaigns

Campaigns are the top level of the Meta advertising hierarchy. Each campaign defines a single marketing objective and contains one or more ad sets (which in turn contain individual ads).

Creating a New Campaign

  1. Go to the Ads page from the sidebar.
  2. Click Create Campaign.
  3. Fill in the campaign details:

Campaign Objective

Choose the goal that best matches what you want to achieve:

  • Awareness — Maximize the number of people who see your ads and remember your brand.
  • Traffic — Drive clicks to your website, app, or landing page.
  • Engagement — Get more likes, comments, shares, and interactions on your content.
  • Leads — Collect contact information from potential customers through lead forms.
  • Sales — Drive purchases or conversions on your website or app.

Your objective determines how Meta’s algorithm optimizes ad delivery, so choose carefully.

Campaign Name

Give your campaign a clear, descriptive name (e.g., “Summer Sale - Traffic - July 2025”). Good naming conventions make it easier to find and compare campaigns later.

Budget

Set either a daily budget (how much to spend per day) or a lifetime budget (total spend over the campaign’s duration). The budget is shared across all ad sets within the campaign.

Managing Campaigns

After creation, you can:

  • Pause a campaign to stop ad delivery without deleting it.
  • Resume a paused campaign to restart delivery.
  • Edit campaign settings, including name and budget.

Next Steps

Once your campaign is created, you’ll need to add at least one Ad Set to define targeting and scheduling, and then create Ads with your creative content.
