API Usage Tracking
Monitor your external API usage and estimated costs on the Usage page.
API Usage Tracking
SoSocial logs every external API call made on your behalf, giving you full visibility into how AI, search, and image services are being used. The Usage page provides detailed breakdowns and cost estimates.
Accessing Usage Data
- Go to Usage from the sidebar.
- The page displays a summary of all API usage along with detailed logs.
What’s Tracked
Anthropic AI (Claude)
Every AI call is logged with:
- Model used — Claude Haiku (for fast tasks like captions and hashtags) or Claude Sonnet (for long-form content like research and calendars).
- Feature — Which AI feature triggered the call (e.g., caption generation, hashtag suggestion, engagement scoring, content calendar, research, reply suggestion).
- Token usage — Input tokens (what you sent to the AI) and output tokens (what the AI generated).
Serper.dev (Google Search)
When you use the Research feature, SoSocial queries Serper.dev for real-time Google search results. Each query is logged as one request.
Unsplash (Image Search)
Every image search through the Unsplash integration is recorded. Unsplash searches are free and unlimited, but tracking helps you understand usage patterns.
Cost Estimates
The Usage page calculates estimated costs based on current pricing:
| Service | Pricing |
|---|---|
| Claude Haiku | $0.80 / 1M input tokens, $4.00 / 1M output tokens |
| Claude Sonnet | $3.00 / 1M input tokens, $15.00 / 1M output tokens |
| Serper.dev | 2,500 free queries, then $1.00 / 1,000 queries |
| Unsplash | Free |
Costs are broken down by:
- Service and model — See which AI model or service is consuming the most.
- Feature — Understand which features drive the most usage.
- Time period — View costs for the current month and all-time totals.
Viewing Detailed Logs
Below the summary, you’ll find a detailed log of recent API calls. Each entry shows the timestamp, service, model, feature, and token counts. Use the limit parameter to load more history if needed.
Tips
- Check usage weekly to stay aware of your AI consumption patterns.
- Optimize prompts — If a feature uses more tokens than expected, consider adjusting your Brand Settings for more focused AI output.
- Export logs for record-keeping, budgeting, or sharing with your finance team.
