Writing Captions
Use the rich text editor to write engaging captions with formatting, links, and real-time character counts.
Writing Captions
The content editor in SoSocial is built on TipTap, giving you a rich text editing experience with a familiar toolbar.
Formatting Options
The toolbar above the editor provides several formatting tools:
- Bold and Italic — Emphasize key words or phrases.
- Ordered lists — Numbered lists for step-by-step content.
- Unordered lists — Bullet points for quick tips or feature highlights.
- Links — Highlight text and add a URL to create clickable links.
These formatting options help structure your content and make it more readable, especially on platforms that support rich text.
Character Count
Each social platform has its own character limits. SoSocial displays a real-time character count as you type, showing how close you are to each platform’s maximum. For example, X/Twitter has a 280-character limit, while Facebook and Instagram allow much longer captions.
If your caption exceeds a platform’s limit, you’ll see a warning so you can trim it down or create a platform-specific variant.
Live Preview
As you type, the post preview on the right side of the composer updates instantly. This gives you a real-time look at how your content will appear once published, including any formatting, media, and link previews.
Writing Tips
- Lead with a hook — The first line is what people see before tapping “more.” Make it count.
- Keep it scannable — Use short paragraphs and line breaks. Walls of text get scrolled past.
- Include a call to action — Tell your audience what to do next: visit a link, leave a comment, or share the post.
- Check the character count — If you’re posting to X/Twitter, keep it concise. Use platform variants for longer captions elsewhere.
